The Classic Style (I Have)
I thought I was done. Seriously. I thought I beat the addiction, need, hunger, curse, that one has when they get into firearms. After all…
I have (in the picture from bottom-to-top in the order I bought them):
Smith & Wesson Model 29 (.44 Magnum/.44 Special) - Dirty Harry with the 6.5 inch barrel
Remington 870 Shotgun (12 gauge)
Smith & Wesson 329PD (.44 Magnum/.44 Special) - (EDC - Every Day Carry)
Henry Big Boy Brass w/ Side Gate (.44 Magnum/.44 Special) - (Lever Action)
I’m a a fan of the old style wood and blued classic look. It’s timeless. And I’ve pretty much got everything I want in that timeless category. I don’t have any desire to crossover into another caliber (I’m a devout fan of the .44 with the exception of the shotgun of course because everyone needs a classic or iconic shotgun). So I thought I was done.
Not so fast…
Space Guns and Dystopia Calling
I really want the Smith & Wesson 629 Stealth Hunter (.44 Magnum/.44 Special) with the 7.5 inch barrel. This thing is finished in matte black and screams revolver from the future.
Not that I’m going to buy it right now at this exact minute, though there is currently a $150 rebate deal going on from S&W and the price before rebate is actually cheaper than I’ve ever seen it. Normally the 629 Stealth Hunter is always $1,800+.
And then… The Henry Big Boy X (.44 Magnum/.44 Special), black and blued, would go so damn well with the 629 Stealth Hunter. It’s completely customizable so I could change the stock, scope it up, and add a suppressor to the threaded barrel as well as so much more.
For those that haven’t heard the term “Space Cowboy” before, below is an example of one such way a person can modify the base model above and “Space Cowboy it up” because you know… It looks like something a space cowboy would use.
Again… Not buying it right now but it’s on the new list because I think it would be cool to add these to my collection.
I’m also still looking into reloading presses and yet again… I’m not buying anything right away because… Well… I’m not making any big purchases until we see where this country is going. That’s the short of it.
It’s Not a Cheap Hobby
I guess I’m going to need to get some more paid subscribers or a shit ton of coffee bought for me!!! So if you like my writing, especially my fiction, fantasy, sci-f-, and Gonzo stuff…. Consider becoming a paid subscriber or Buy me a Coffee. Help me feed my 2A addiction.
Note:
Since I like S&W and we have snobs and elitists in our hobby. I don’t care about the lock (or the “Hillary Hole” that S&W added to their revolvers over 20 some years ago to appease Hillary Clinton’s anti-gun stances). No one but these snobs notice the lock and the lock has never come into play or caused an issue for me. For 99% of the people out there, the lock will never be an issue. But alas… these elitist like to blast anyone who buys a S&W that came after the lock was added. They go on to say that they will only buy S&W again if they remove the lock (something one can do themselves for a couple dollars and 15 minutes to fill it in). I swear these elitists are almost as bad as the cult of 9mm… but I digress. You do you. I don’t want to hear about your issues with the lock. I really don’t fucking care!!!
I only owned one gun about 50 years ago and it was a simple shotgun. But it is a fascinating realm none the less. I can understand the hobby of collecting guns and some are quite fascinating and pleasing to admire. I hate to admit it but as we progress toward more government tyranny (no matter who is running the sinking ship) they might become more practical and necessary.
Go for the reloading. Tailored ammo for your long range stuff will improve accuracy quite a bit. Progressive presses are a pain in the ass. I run two single stage, works out better. Gas check maker for your thumper, and anything else you want to shoot fast lead out of (over 800).. bullets and primers are the worst, unless you cast. At this point I buy primers, primers, primers. Good luck
