This, That, and The Other (Media and Life Edition)
YouTube Music, Substack keeps unsubbing me, and Life...
YouTube Music FTW!!!
I'm impressed. Seriously.
Not only does YouTube Music bring me new artists (the algorithm is actually being helpful) but when you pair it with the YouTube app on your TV, you get the full on nostalgia of having MTV (that was Music Television, for all of your millennials to Gen whatever the fuck you are now…). And the cool thing, it's better than MTV because it will play things I like or knows I might like. A never ending stream of videos and music with no 5 minute commercials, no Kurt Loder looking like he needs to take a shit while giving us the latest news, and no songs or videos you know you're going to be subjected to and seriously spoil your flow (Give it away by Red Hot Chili Peppers… I can’t tell you how much the annoyance of that video was back in the day).
Here’s one of the artists I found that I really like…
Pop + K-Pop right there. Fun to listen to. I like it.
Substack Keeps Unsubbing Me
This Subtack unsubbing has got to stop.

Substack needs to concentrate on keeping their core utility working and stop worrying about cultivating the reject influencers from Tiktok, X, and Instagram over to Notes.
I woke up to being unsubbed from the
when I clicked on the tag from notifications for the latest The Scroll. If you know me, then you know (have seen reposted in Notes EVERY weekend) the latest edition of The Scroll. It’s my Saturday morning reading. So when I clicked on it from the notification tag, it showed me as unsubscribed. ISubstack has now unsubbed me 3 times from
and I only find out about it when I realize… “Hey, what happened to them? They’re prolific and haven’t put out a piece.” Nope, they’ve been putting out pieces. Substack just unsubbed me. How many others have I been unsubbed from? How many of you out there were unsubbed from someone you read, and don’t even know it?And then… While I was writing this and then navigating around on Substack, I was logged out. So I had to relog into the site itself. What the hell is going on Substack???
What a mess… all of my Notes vanished and I was unsubbed from even more people. And then after getting things straight on the web, the app on my phone was out of sync and I had to logout of that and re-login to get it to sync back up. Unfortunately, it looks like all of my Notes are gone. Thankfully, the shorts stories I posted there directly, were copied elsewhere. Here’s the Journey’s of the Note Rider, where each of these shorts originated in Notes.
Journey's of the Note Rider
The Note Rider began as a way to doing a shorter story within Substack Notes. Don’t Ask, Don’t Die was posted as it was written to Notes with no images to accompany it. People seemed to like it. So then came Gas & Bacon and people really seemed to love that one. This was followed by
Check your subs readers. Make sure you are still subbed to the stacks you intentionally subbed too.
Otherwise… I’m Good. You Good?
It’s been awhile but I’m good right now. Things are evening out. Smoothing over. Getting back to how they should be and not the rough waters of what things had become. When you are at the edge of oblivion, you really wake up and realize what matters the most to you. And you also realize, how everything else is noise and you have have zero in on what really matters. So hopefully… Oblivion has been averted.
Thank the Heavens, I jettisoned the pop music scene and its "new music" 25 years ago.
