I killed off the Instagram account I never used. It takes a month to do so. Meta gives you a month to change your mind and log back in because Meta knows most people will log back in. I didn’t. My Instagram is gone.
When I saw that the account was removed, I instantly, started the deletion process for Zuckbook. Again… It takes another month. I’ve maybe a week left and that shit will be gone.
I had posted on Zuckbook, during the Instagram deletion phase, that I was going to do the same to Zuckbook. I don’t think anyone saw that post though. Since the days of trying to get the truth out about Covid and the Vaxx, my account has been seriously shadow banned. I was put in Zuckbook jail numerous times for having links to peer reviewed studies. When the REAL science is censored for the shitty narrative, you know the platform is shit.
Anyway… I used the Zuckbook messenger to contact some people directly so I could get/verify their direct contact info and they were surprised I was deleting my account. I don’t know why? They obviously could not see anything that I was posting and I very rarely saw anything from anyone that I was following over there. The stream was a bunch of fluff the algorithm decided I should see. None of it very interesting. And let’s be honest here… If the point of the platform is to connect people from IRL into the digital to keep track/tabs/an eye on… Zuckbook does a real shitty job of that.
For the longest time I was keeping it for the same tired reason that everyone always uses… “Everyone I know in IRL is there, from family to friends, so I can’t delete it.” Maybe it’s when you realize that you are no longer seeing those posts from those people anymore, that you wake up to how shitty the site is. If I’m no longer seeing posts from people that I am following then what’s the point???
People get stuck on this idea of how they have “collected” everyone they know in this space and that real communication is happening, when in fact, only communication that Zuckbook allows via the algorithm is happening. It’s just another control method. And honestly, it seems like people who do post something, get this idea that that is their update to everyone so please do NOT contact me IRL. Zuckbook and other social media has completely killed communication.
I’m happy to communicate via email, Signal, the phone, direct and NOT monetized for Zuckbook’s benefit. I see no reason to continue to be a cog in the Meta Zuckbook empire that makes money for that evil corpo.

I messaged some of my “friends” that I was deleting… never heard from one of them. I know who my friends are. Best thing I ever done… going on 5 years!!
I deleted mine at least six years ago. It was clear what FB was evolving into. The truth is that the "friend" count was designed for dopamine hits, and when I virtually disappeared, few people noticed. I know who my actual "friends" are. Still don't miss it, not for one second.
