I got up this morning ready for the new Pearl Jam album Dark Matter. The disc is being delivered today (I’ve had it on pre-order since it went on pre-order) and I’m listening to it now on Amazon Music. It’s good!!! The world needs Rock Music to save it from…. All of whatever that autotune, conformists, pop influencers are doing to the braincells of the youth.
I was reading through Slack (work) this morning, and in the “random” channel, the first comment is from a dude talking about his daughter waiting on the new “TayTay” album scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. And then another guy chimes in that his daughter’s album is being delivered between 5pm-10pm today. And then more down the line of people waiting on “TayTay”.
Full STOP…. Who the fuck is “TayTay” and why the fuck is this person releasing their album on a Pearl Jam release day? The audacity!!!
So I opened up another site (News and I’m not sure how this is “news” but I digress…) and the top headline is about Taylor Swift dropping a double album with 2 songs that diss Kim Kardashian. And then it clicks.
TayTay is Taylor Swift in GenZ/Millennial Speak. And of course that overrated pop princess would have the audacity to disrespect GenX on Pearl Jam release day. Because for her and her flock of followers (let’s be honest, they are not fans of music, they are followers of influencer pop) she is the center of the universe. And furthermore, I have to wonder how many of the Slack “dads” are the ones actually waiting on the album and it’s not for their daughters, since their daughters are probably exclusive to the sugar-pop being streamed directly into their brains. I got your number “dads”. Ya’ll are Millennials and those physical albums are going into your personal collection. The jig is up. Fess up.
On the flip… I miss the days of picking up a new albums at the record store on Monday night just as the dial swings over to 12AM Tuesday and the new music is released. I miss that hype of everyone talking about the new singles that come before the new album is released. I miss tracking the new album numbers, like when Peal Jam Vs came out and sold over 900,000 copies on release, something that is unheard of in the days of streaming.
Oh well… Go listen to your bubblegum pop from TayTay, you GenZ’s and Millennials and I’ll enjoy my Pearl Jam, while I also pray for your wayward souls and lament the loss of realism and identity in today’s music that is driven by influencer pop sameness.
***I was going to post an AI Generated image of Oscar the Grouch fucking “TayTay” but since it came from that bounty of AI images (not long ago) that the little influencer got pissy about and tried to go after people (using the feds), I’ll withhold that one. If you don’t want to be a celebrity, don’t get into the business (AI or not) you little twit. It goes with the territory. Fuck TayTay and the Zombie Hoards.
Righteous Friday rant Bones. LOL
I am not a fan of the Jam, more of a Soundgarden guy myself. But I'd take them over the hot garbage that is Swift.
:-D
Aye. Fuck Taytay. Is there any relationship here between The Bone Writer and the fabled Anarchist Voodoo priest Dr. Bones? Just a coincidence perhaps. Either way great writing!
