Righteous Friday rant Bones. LOL

I am not a fan of the Jam, more of a Soundgarden guy myself. But I'd take them over the hot garbage that is Swift.

:-D

Aye. Fuck Taytay. Is there any relationship here between The Bone Writer and the fabled Anarchist Voodoo priest Dr. Bones? Just a coincidence perhaps. Either way great writing!

Such is the sorry state of the world. And you're probably dead on accurate about these beta males awaiting the latest auto tuned tirade from Taylor Twit about her poor choices in men and whatever other manufactured plastic garbage she's pushing. I never cared for Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots or Alice In Chains is my grunge preference but I'd gladly listen to the entire PJ catalog over 2 minutes of the Twit.

There was something special about going to buy a new album, the lyrics printed on the inner sleeve. If you were an Iron Maiden fan or another band with visually stunning album covers it was fun looking for hidden details, or just the impact of the visual. Say what you want about KISS but they had some awesome album art. Creatures Of The Night, Alive II and my personal favorite Destroyer, they were hypnotizing. And standing in line for tickets,or camping out at the box office for 2-3 days to get front row or just a general admission ticket for a killer tour that was selling out in 10 minutes. I can still remember The Police coming to town on the Synchronicity tour and standing in the pouring rain for a ticket that you weren't going to get otherwise. Nobody knew it would be their last and scallping was illegal then.

Now scalping is just another business, an online convenience. People stream singles, physical copies are almost extinct. Tickets are digital or printed at home after being purchased online and $100 is considered cheap. No more seeing two amazing bands for $10-$12. And what are most shows these days anyway? Lip syncing, dancers, pre-recorded instrumental tracks. My wife and my first date I took her to see Eric Clapton and a nice dinner beforehand. I think the tickets were $25 each and I was shocked, that was the most any tickets had been up to that point but over thirty years later it was money well spent. Today you'd have to get a loan to pay for a date like that. My apologies for my long winded Fossil rant. Everything is so fake and plastic and overpriced today.

"Now scalping is just another business, an online convenience."

That right there. Dead on.

The 3rd party ticketing resellers are just legalized scalpers and when they get their tickets in early entry, they drive up surge pricing for everyone else. So the fan is going to end up paying a higher ticket price in the normal sale or the high scalper price on the second hand market, that they also control.

Nice! Someone who writes fiction AND has good musical taste?!?! Did we just become best friends???

Seriously, we seem to have a lot in common. Check out my page, I think you’ll see. And maybe consider joining a few of us in our running theme of Freedom Music Friday. It’s fun thinking listening for ideas about freedom in every song I listen to during the week and trying to come up with something every Friday morning. Here’s mine from today
