Don't bother watching the Apple TV Foundation series. I had a free subscription at the time and it wasn't worth the cost. In fact you'd have to pay me large quantiies of money to get to watch it. "Loosely based" is a very gernous term. I usually say modern scifi TV and moves are like people writing fan-fiction only they've never seen or read the source material. The Foundation series was worse than that.
As for watching older stuff, I agree. All that you mentioned, I prefer the original over the remake. However Stormageddon instantly hates anything he discovers to be older than 3 years old. I'm going to keep working on him.
Stuido streaming servies vs licensed content streaming services, I want both. If we only have Netflix and Tubi and maybe one or two other streaming services, we'll see the mass censorship was saw with FB and the WuFlu. Plus they'll never pay for any good independent content. So we do need the content creators to also stream their stuff. However I do agree I'm not going to pay for 100 different servies just to watch one show on each of them. Also I'm not quite at the point of going back to physical media, but I certainly understand why someone would.
My theory is that 30+ years ago the methods of measuring media audiences, advertising efficiency etc., etc. were still comparatively rudimentary; while there were all sorts of measurements, the numbers were being taken with a grain of salt, and it was certainly easier to sell advertising time if you had a cool channel with cool content.
Nowadays everyone is fairly certain that crap does, in fact, sell.
Watching? How about doing instead? Got no time for passive anything, there is too much to be done in real life, not enough time. Creating instead of consuming.
disney+ was bad enough when it started the excessive ads but then it had none of old traditional christmas shows...they were all on other subscriber services. i paid to watch disney on disney so i dumped them.
